At the time I write this, there are only 150 hits (on Google of course) for the phrase “I Google Everything”. Hey Google! How about some bumper stickers and/or T-shirts that say this? If you do it, can I get one of each free for thinking of it? Email me for my mailing address.

What self-respecting geek doesn’t google everything? Three real examples from today: Want to find out what that icon is/does on your cell phone display? Google it. What’s the wattage of your microwave? Google it. How does a DOMParser handle CDATA? Google it.

Need a quick and easy way to rip CDs to Mp3 on Windows? Try Audiograbber. be sure and also get the LAME DLL with it (link on the download page). AG rips to MP3 and will look up the CD online so the tags are filled out correctly. FREEWARE! Another one to try is CDEx though I don’t like the interface in CDEx as much.

I like some good hip-hop/rap. I found this podcast thanks to podcastoutlaws.com. It’s the Doo Doo Def Show. Not only do these guys play some great underground hip-hop, the three hosts are FUNNY! From their site:

“giving emerging hip-hop artists a chance to shoot us their music and get a review from three old, bitter, jaded hip-hop heads (Terntabl Reka, Poor Devil, & Pete Nasty) who know how hard the grind is.”

My new favorite song (not counting Steve Burns’ Mighty Little Man) is now Andrew Bird’s Nervous Tic (thanks 3Hive.com). Grab the MP3 here:
A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left [MP3, 4.5MB, 128kbps]
(the song totally changes 54 seconds in - listen at least past that)

Some podcasts are just too long. I get through 30 minutes and there is 30 minutes left. My MP3 player doesn’t remember where I was so next time I get in the car I have to FF 30 minutes. What a pain. So I found this awesome program to split the podcasts into manageable 15 or 30 minute chunks….mp3DirectCut. It cuts them lightning fast - no re-encoding. Great freeware program.

So I’m listening to the Insomnia Radio Podcast, specifically, this one and holy crap! Steve…the Steve formerly of Blue’s Clues, the kid’s show on Nick Jr…….has a rock album out! This episode of Insomnia Radio plays a song fro mthe album and I’ll be damned…it’s good. Really good. It still freaks me out to think Steve….from Blue’s Clues sings the song! Crazy! Check out the whole album at Steve’s webpage at, appropriately enough, http://steveswebpage.com. How weird is it to see Steve needing a shave and with a cigarette in his mouth?

Over the past week, I helped a guy (via email) build a JAMMA test rig like mine. I need to do a whole writeup on how I did mine (though you really can find all the info online).

Mr. X from Podcast Galaxy came up with a cool idea. He’s created a podcast website for the little guys - those really good podcasts that get no exposure and nobody is listening to. So, you won’t find the top 10 podcasters at podcast alley here - just really good podcasts you probably haven’t heard. There is even an RSS feed for the ‘casts! Check it out! http://podcastoutlaws.com
