Replacing Battery in Creative Zen Nomad Jukebox

Creative Zen Nomad Jukebox
I picked this up for $10 from FB marketplace. It’s in fantastic condition and came with the AC adapter and a case. But… the battery only was lasting about 30 minutes. So, I decided to see if I could replace it. This is one of the easiest -players to open – all screws are visible and easy to get to.

Once you take the front off, you see the proprietary? battery.

I couldn’t find an exact replacement so I ended up replacing it with a 404060 battery but any 2 wire 3.7V battery should work as long as it fits. I reused the connector on the original battery and just wired it into the orginal connector. I had to shave off a little bit of the plastic inside the battery compartment to get it to fit, but it does fit. Now it gets about 9.5h of playtime on one charge. I suspect that would go way up if I replaced the HDD with microSD. Maybe I’ll try that someday.

So you just spliced the cable from original battery without have to solder out the cable from the board?
