Dumpster Diving for Concert Posters and a Guitar – PLUS: Name That 80s Band Photo!
Last weekend I went to the local storage unit place to help my sister clean out her storage unit. She goes to the dumpster to get rid of some trash and she comes back saying there is something that looks like a guitar case in there. I go and fish it out and it’s a Fender case with a pretty nice Yamaha guitar in it! I took it to a friend at work and he is restringing it now (so no pics til it comes back) but he said it’s in great shape! WOW! he said I could get maybe $150 for it give or take. I’ll post pics when I get it back.
Then, we found three framed concert posters from 1981. All three measure 19″x12″ and each is in excellent shape – it looks like they have been framed most of their life. Above is a pic of all three together and here are the pics of each individually (click to enlarge each):
Nathan the Lego artist
I was watching Extreme Home Makeover on ABC and they were local (in Raleigh). The local Lego artist they used was named Nathan. Was that Nathan Sawaya from brickartist.com? His site shows some awesome work and the stuff Nathan did for the show was great too. It must be him – how many pro Lego builders are there named Nathan? Anyone know if he is local (in NC)? His domain info says he is in NY.

How to remove Snap.com from sites you browse
If you have seen that annoying new service snap.com (it creates popup snapshots of the link destination) you have probably found it darn annoying. If you haven’t seen it yet, visit http://techcrunch.com and point at any link that goes offsite. If you find it really annoying, come back here and I’ll tell you how to get rid of it on all sites you visit.
It’s pretty simple to remove. If you’re using Firefox (and if not, you should be) and you are using the AdBlock plugin for Firefox, simply block
*.snap.com/*
and you won’t see the snap previews on any site you visit in the future.

Antworks – my $4 thrift store find
While browsing the local thrift store I came across a brand new, in-the-box Antworks illuminated kit. They sell for $30 at ThinkGeek! it was missing the AC adapter only. I grabbed it for the measly $4 selling price and my universal AC adapter I had at home worked just fine with it (after just a little dremeling). I order the ants for it online for another $4 and they should be here anytime. My daughter is so excited to have an antfarm. Should be fun. I’ll be posting pics of it once the ants arrive. Maybe even do a daily or semi-daily picture of it or maybe make a time-lapse movie of it. Fun, fun!
I love thrift stores.
