So the cable guy fixed up my connection today. Turns out one of my cable splitters was shot (who knew?) – he replaced it and now we are just peachy. So the site should be stable again – probably will still be a tad slow to render since my server is a measly P233 with 96 MB of RAM hosting 8 or 9 domains via my cable modem. Like I said though – I’m going to move this site to a real server soon.

D-pad origin?
I have no idea what made me think of this the other day……what is the origin of calling the little pad/controller thingy on a gamepad a “D-pad”? It’s not shaped like a D, it’s shaped like a plus. Why isn’t it called a “plus pad” or a “cross pad”? And when was the first time it was called this (and why)? And what controller had the first “D-pad”? I couldn’t immediately find the answer to this via Google. Things that make you say Hmmmmmmmm…….
Anyone have an answer?
UPDATE: Found it – D-pad is short for “direction pad” (I knew that). I found it on the very next google search after I posted this.
HTML/CSS help/challenge
I need a bit of help with this site. If you set your browser’s default background to any color other than white, you’ll see that the left and right sides are not set to white and I cannot figure out how to get them set to white. I tried changing the CSS multiple different ways from setting the background to white to trying a backgoround image of a tiled white pixel. Can anyone take a look and tell me how to fix it? View the source on this page and take a look at the CSS. Let me know. I can give you credit for figuring it out with a link to your site and you can have a free 3 pack of stickers from Podcast Stickers.

Cable guy comes tomorrow
There is definitely something wrong with my cable internet connection (and thus all of my websites). Time-Warner connected remotely to the modem and determined someting IS wrong. Hopefully they can fix it quickly. The net’s been sporadic at home for a couple weeks, and that SUCKS.
