Listal
Listal is a great site that helps you keep track of your DVD movies, CDs, games, and books. It even interfaces with Amazon to get its info. I’ve been wanting something like this for a while. The site looks and performs great. Uses a bit of AJAX too. Sweet. I just put my list of books I want to read online and started on my Xbox game collection.

PopPeeper – POP3 checker
Since I have been using a plugin to Miranda to check my POP3 account, during the time period where I couldn’t use Miranda I had to look for a small footprint POP3 checker. My requirements were:
- low memory footprint, the smaller the better
- message preview – I want to see who it’s from and the subject before launching my mail client
- mimize to tray
- freeware
I found a TON of POP3 checkers and here were my results for the ones I tried:
- eprompter – 5.8MB – too much memory
- emailchk – 5 MB – too much memory
- magic mail monitor – 5.5 MB – too much memory
- mailchecker – 3MB – no preview
- natty – 1.6 MB – no preview
- mailpeek – 500kb – no system tray
- PopPeeper – 1.7 MB – WINNER
So, I ended up using PopPeeper. It met all my needs and only used ~1.7MB of memory when running. Of course, now that Miranda works again, I don’t need it any more. Oh well. Maybe this info will help someone else in the future.
Mythbusters – Adam Savage interview
Part 1 of an interview with Adam Savage from Mythbusters is up at The Sneeze. Great interview if you like Mythbusters (one of my favorite TV shows right now).
UPDATE: part 2 is up
