Custom 1:12 High Republic Nihil Figure

Since I started reading the new High Republic books I’ve been wanting to create a figure and finslly finished one (more on the way). I took inspiration from the concept art but went my own direction with it.

Final Faction at Dollar Tree – fodder for 6 inch 1:12 scale figures

I stumbled on these Final Faction sets at Dollar Tree the other day. For a buck a piece they are an excellent deal. I bought one of each, played around with them, then went back the next day and cleaned most of them out. Note that only one of three Dollar Trees I went to had these, but they are available online if you can’t find them locally. None of them had the figures these go with. I may pick up one each of those just for fun but they are 3.75″, so not my thing.

I am so impressed with the quality of these packs though! They are harder plastic than I have seen Dollar Tree use in the past and they feel great and are really well done. They aren’t thin or flimsy at all and high quality, believe it or not. I almost exclusively deal with Star Wars 6 inch figure customs, so I’m slanted toward that but many of these will also work with Marvel Legends, DC Multiverse, GI Joe, and other 6 inch figures. If you customize (or kitbash) AT ALL go pick these up. Maybe if we can show Dollar Tree there is a market for this, they will make more accessory packs like these!

Here’s a breakdown of each pack and what I found and experimented with:

List of 1:12 scale head casting sites

For custom heads (and parts) for 6 inch figures. I am not vouching for any of these sites. Well, except https://www.outerrimtraders.com/. I have used them a number of times.

Custom 1:12 scale Black Series speeder bike

Following in the footsteps of those that came before me, I present to you, my speeder bike using the Hero Mashers bike.

-chopped the front yoke and replaced it with 2 wooden dowels and a disposable pink razor. This one cracks me up. I showed my wife and she didn’t even notice her razor was on in the bike

-dremeled off the back cushion and replaced it with a fake leather one (made with brown paper bag and mod podge over a random Ikea? part)

-back cushion is removable and I added a removable basket to hold the kid

-added a rear exhaust made from a marker barrel and the twisty bottom of an anti-perspirant. The angle was tricky to get right – I had to do three of them til I finally got it right. This looks great, IMO and is perfect – check out the inside view

-added a lego shield and a part from the dollar tree robot on the back where the pluses were

Primed grey, hit it with some silver spray paint (front and fork) then painted with acrylics, then weathered. I may add some rust to it. Maybe. Also may add some wired/tubes. Maybe.

This was super fun to do, highly recommended. The Hero Mashers set is on Amazon Prime for less than $11.
